Culinary Kids
Partnership with Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program and Vigo County Parks Department.
The program featured three fun-filled classes tailored for kids ages 3–10. Each session introduced young chefs to the basics of healthy meal building, smart snacking, and kitchen safety. Thanks to the Parks Department, the fun didn’t stop in the kitchen—kids also got moving with balance bikes (plus a free helmet!), Just Dance sessions, and exciting obstacle courses!
“Culinary Kids” was all about promoting healthy habits and family engagement. Thanks to grant support, families even received food boxes so they could recreate the meals together at home—bringing the learning full circle.

Taste Tests
This program has encouraged students to try new foods and incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into their diets. Students have tried golden kiwi, blueberries, ants on a log, and vegetable pizza!

Nutrition Education at University Connections
Over 300 Vigo County students in grades 2–5 explored nutrition and public health at Indiana State University through a hands-on learning experience led by the Department of Applied Medicine and Rehabilitation in partnership with VCSC’s University Connections program and the Coordinated Health Program. From scavenger hunts across campus to healthy recipe demos in our Foods Lab, students discovered where food comes from and how it impacts our daily lives.
