Mental Health Programming

  • Building Social Skills with 2nd Graders

This program focuses on building social skills with 2nd graders across the district, providing students with additional exposure to and opportunities to learn about five core SEL competencies: cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.

  • Digital Citizenship: Staying Safe Online

This workshop delves into the impact of screen time and social media on mental health, exploring both the positive and negative aspects. It also encourages students to “spend more green time than screen time” by offering ideas for outdoor activities and meaningful connections. The workshop is presented in partnership with the Terre Haute Police Department, whose curriculum focuses on online safety, recognizing dangerous content, and understanding the impact of photo sharing among youth.

  • Speaker Series with Community Partners

We have partners with Dr. Abbie Jones, a licensed Health Service Psychologist, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and founder and CEO of Mindful Growth. Dr. Jones provides training to all staff on the following topics: trauma therapist tips for when you're "in the thick of it", classroom strategies for behavior management, and how to reach the unreachable students. These trainings provide educators with strategies they can immediately implement in their classrooms to improve classroom culture, support relationship-building, and help students manage big behaviors.
